What's PDF?
PDF stands for "Portable Document Format," a universal file format that retains the look and content of the original files, complete with fonts and graphic images. Using the Adobe® Acrobat Reader program, a file saved as PDF can be viewed and printed on Windows, Mac OS and UNIX® platforms.
The Acrobat Reader program is available free from Adobe.com. If you don't have Acrobat Reader already installed in your system, click the yellow "Get Acrobat Reader" image at right to get started, and follow the instructions on the Adobe site. Then return here to get your free QN Index.
Is this hard?
It may seem like a bit of work to get started, but once the Acrobat Reader is installed, you'll be on your way. Simply follow the instructions on Adobe.com to download and install the correct version of the Acrobat Reader program, then return here to download the QN Index. Download times will vary according to the speed of your internet access. Then launch your Acrobat Reader and open the qnmindex.pdf file!
Then what?
Once the PDF file is open in Acrobat Reader, you can view and print the index to have on hand when you're looking for a particular pattern or article. Or, you can use Acrobat's Find function to search the index for keywords. Just click the binocular icon that appears in the menu bar (or press Command/Control-F on the keyboard) and type in the word or phrase that you are looking for. Acrobat Reader will highlight the first appearance of the word within the document. To search for additional appearances, choose Find Again (or press Command/Control-G on the keyboard).
Are the Indexes available in print form?
Yes! You can order the QN Cumulative Pattern and Subject Index 1969-1994, for $10.95 + $2 postage and handling. 1995-2001 Index Supplements are available for $1.50 each, plus $.50 postage and handling. To order, call 800-881-6634.
